Helping parents raise happy resilient children

ABOUT

  • If you are experiencing concerning behaviours with your child or children that you have not been able to manage or improve, it might be time to explore a parenting programme.

Some parents don’t manage to get their children’s behaviour to improve no matter what good advice they act upon. Some feel completely overwhelmed, or they are concerned that the whole family is being affected by behaviour issues. Some feel they are losing their own ability to stay calm and grounded as well. Others are experiencing challenges across households if they are divorced or separated.

Whatever the context, most people I work with have not found advice elsewhere that has helped them to improve their child’s behaviour in practice.

It is ok to get dedicated help for a period, to work through these issues and establish a parenting approach that will serve you for the long term.

  • This is a customised programme of working with a trained consultant over a period of time to focus on your specific challenges.

As a certified parenting consultant, I will provide you with deeply researched taught skills and knowledge and I will coach you to address the specific issues that you are facing with your child / children (usually ages ~ 4 - 12).

My aim is to support you as the parent or parents, so that you can help your children to behave appropriately to their age, to be happy and resilient young people, and to support you to be a calm, happy parent.

  • I always conduct a free initial call with you to make sure we both feel like the programme would be a good fit.

There is more about the programme on this website. I usually recommend 6 sessions of 90 minutes with you or you and your co-parent by video call. I will design the content to suit your needs.

In each session we focus on key skills that you put into practice between sessions. We also look at what’s working and what’s not working so I can support you to build the skills over the full course of the programme. You can also write to me between sessions with questions for support.

  • Not at all! Getting the right kind of support when you are experiencing challenges with your child/children’s behaviour is a sign of a loving invested parent.

You can’t always rely on your own experiences to help you parent. Your child / children are different from you, and they are growing up at a different time. Lots of people find getting through books is too much, or that applying the recommended techniques isn’t working.

Many parents look to other parents for tips, but with really challenging behaviour or unique family circumstances, other people’s tips and tricks are often not enough for you to make changes in your own child’s behaviour.

  • My programme suits all kinds of families, however, I have particular expertise working with two household parents. This is what I lived through raising two children, a boy and a girl.

So many parents who separate, divorce, find a new partner or lose their partner are navigating a new kind of parenting. For many, it is finally a chance to parent the way you have always wanted to, but you are realising it’s not working as well as you hoped.

You may be finding the challenges or frictions of co-parenting frustrating and you are concerned it is impacting the child / children. You are likely seeing that your child / children may be struggling with their behaviour or emotions.

  • While my programme suits all kinds of families, as someone who spent 30 years in business, I know what it is to balance parenting and a busy career.

So many parents who are working long hours find it difficult to deal with parenting challenges, whether that’s a better bedtime or morning routine or managing difficult behaviour with no extra time to spare.

Building a consistent set of habits, boundaries and ways of communicating and listening to your child will set you up for a lifetime of parenting success, and help you to raise a happy, resilient child.
